This Pranayama (breath control) technique is designed to cleanse the nadis (energy channels), alleviate stress, enhance oxygen flow, and bring balance to both hemispheres of the brain.

1. Find a Comfortable Position:

Sit in a relaxed, cross-legged position such as Padmasana, Siddhasana, Swastikasana, Vajrasana, or Sukhasana.  Ensure your spine is straight and your shoulders are relaxed.  You can sit on the floor or in a chair

2. Hand Placement (Pranayama Mudra):

Rest your left hand on your left knee in Chin Mudra (thumb and index finger gently touching). Then, using your right hand, fold the index and middle fingers towards your palm. Your thumb will control the right nostril, and your ring finger will control the left nostril. Alternatively, you can rest your index and middle fingers lightly on your forehead or between your eyebrows.

3. Start the Breathing Cycle:

Close your right nostril with your right thumb.  Inhale slowly and deeply through your left nostril until your lungs are full.

4. Alternate Nostrils

After a full inhalation, close your left nostril with your ring finger1. Release your thumb from the right nostril and exhale slowly and completely through the right nostril

5. Continue the Cycle

Inhale through the right nostril, then close it and exhale through the left nostril. This completes one round. Repeat this cycle for 5-15 minutes, depending on your comfort level.

6. Maintain Awareness

Throughout the process, be conscious of your breathing and how it affects both your body and mind. Keep the breath slow, deep, and even, and don’t force the breath.
